Rangeland Management Specialist

Duties for the GS-5 Level:
The person in this position works under the guidance and supervision of a supervisor or higher graded rangeland management specialist.
This is a developmental and basic trainee position.
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Prepares, evaluates and conducts ecological analyses of public rangeland projects; Develop management plans, assist in designing technical surveys, and performs work on rangeland improvement projects under the supervision of a senior rangeland management specialist; conducts monitoring studies and determine the need for rangeland and watershed improvements; and properly files, stores and preserves range administration records and monitoring data.
Duties for the GS-7 Level:
The person in this position works under the guidance and supervision of a supervisor or higher graded rangeland management specialist.
This is a developmental and advanced trainee position that has assignments more complex and with less instruction than the basic trainee position.
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Prepares, evaluates and conducts ecological analyses of public rangeland projects; develops management plans, assists in designing technical surveys, and performs work on rangeland improvement projects under the supervision of a senior rangeland management specialist; conducts monitoring studies and determine the need for rangeland and watershed improvements; and properly files, stores and preserves range administration records and monitoring data.
Physical Demands:
The work may frequently require walking or riding horses or in vehicles over rough terrain to collect samples and perform monitoring activities.
Work may also include bending, crouching, stopping, reaching or lifting.
Overnight camping is sometimes required.
Work Environment:
The work is performed in an office setting.
However, frequently there is outdoor exposure to complete the work which may involve extreme temperatures, hostile wildlife, and inclement weather.
In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, applicants must have specialized experience and/or education directly related to the position to be found qualified.
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume.
To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.
To qualify for the GS-5 Rangeland Management Specialist, you must meet the positive education requirement as stated in the Requirements section above.
To qualify for the GS-7 you must meet the positive education requirement as stated in the Requirements section above AND have:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in rangeland management related work, OR Superior Academic Achievement, OR 1 year of graduate level education leading to Master's degree in the field of rangeland management or directly related fields of study, OR have an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above.
Specialized experience for the GS-7 is defined as:
assisting higher level professionals with grazing applications and permits, on-the-ground use supervision, planning and conducting range studies, planning range & watershed improvements, conducting trespass investigations, consulting with livestock operators and preparing land use planning documents.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
